2012 was quite a year for celebrity weddings. Each celebration had us anxious for photographic evidence of the glamour and romance. From surprise backyard weddings to lavish weekend-long fetes, these celebrity brides brought their individual takes on wedding gown glamour. Here is our list of the top five celebrity wedding looks from 2012.
Natalie and Benjamin Millepied married in a private ceremony in Big Sur. She wore a tea-length dress in white designed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte. This gorgeous gown featured a vintage-inspired scoop neckline with an illusion effect and sheer sleeves. The form-fitting bodice and a full A-line skirt added sweetness to the dress. Natalie completed the look with a floral crown and a simple veil. The simplicity of the silhouette and retro look of the ensemble made this such a memorable dress.
Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake tied the knot at a resort in southern Italy. Jessica wore a custom Giambattista Valli dress in a patterned fabric comprised of shades of pale pink. The strapless gown featured a tiered peplum on the empire waist and a full ball gown skirt. The perfect fit of the bodice ensured that the volume of the skirt did not overwhelm the bride. The theme of the wedding was romance and this beautiful pink dress certainly fit the bill. Between the dreamy swirls of pink and the ruffled tiers, Jessica looked like the epitome of a blushing bride.
Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman in an outdoor ceremony in California. Wearing a custom designed Valentino dress, Anne was beaming in a floaty, romantic ball gown. The dress included a lace bodice with an elegant off the shoulder neckline crafted of tulle. The dress also displayed a full tulle skirt; the skirt featured a slight ombré effect with a gradual gradient of light blush at the hem to ivory. Anne also wore a 1920s-inspired headpiece with a dramatically long veil.
Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg wed longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan in a surprise backyard wedding in California. Priscilla wore a Claire Pettibone dress featuring an illusion neckline and a dramatic illusion back. The perfectly-fitted sheath silhouette of this gown was a perfect match for the casualness of the garden. With the embroidery on the illusion netting for both the neckline and the back, Priscilla brought in modern touches to a classic outdoor wedding look. The bride finished off her look with a sleek updo and a simple veil.
The Office’s Ellie Kemper and Michael Koman were married in New York City. Ellie wore a fitted lace mermaid dress with beautiful scalloped lace straps. The unfussy sweetheart neckline and scalloped hem added elegance to the classic lace dress. The bride kept her look very simple with pearl earrings and a simple bun. This dress is a beautiful example of how lace can be both modern and timeless.
