What to Expect in The New 2021 Spring Bridal Season

With the new year comes new brides, which also means new bridal dresses! Each season designers try to create new, bold looks and unforgettable dresses. Whether it be a little bit of color, a cool new lace, or an amazing back detail, designers strive to make their newest collection the most memorable one yet. That said, here are some of the design aspects to expect for the 2021 spring bridal season!

1. Bold Lace

Lace is a very traditional design element in bridal dresses, since before our grandparents’ time, lace bridal dresses were often seen. Traditionally however, lace tended to be something more delicate and often floral in pattern, more modern designers like to play with patterning and size. This newest season brings everything from traditional looking lace to large florals, to more modern patterns. This isn’t necessarily an entirely new design concept , however it’s definitely something to be appreciated this new season.

 2. Simple Skirts

Often bridal dresses are full lace, or sparkle from top to bottom or have some sort of detail all throughout the entire dress. These dresses are beautiful, elegant and timeless. As much as intricacy can be beautiful, so can simpleness. One design aspect that is also not new to the bridal world is the simple, elegant design. Sometimes brides like a fully embellished bodice or a beautiful lace top and a simple skirt. This design creates an eye catching, elongated look to the dress and is something prevalent in this new season’s dresses

3. Color

One thing that isn’t very common in traditional wedding dresses in color! Most wedding dresses come in some variation of white or champagne. It is very uncommon to see anything other than this. More nontraditional brides have been gravitating towards colors like lavender and peach for years, even black dresses have been something some brides look for years and 2021 will be no different!

4. Overskirts

Overskirts are a really cool way to have two dresses in one! Usually, they go over a trumpet, sheath, or mermaid dress and can be a full ball gown skirt or just a couple of layers of fabric to create a removable train. Overskirts are usually detachable, sometimes though, they’re a cool permanent design aspect to the dress. Even if not part of the original design, adding an overskirt is always a possibility and adds a possible interesting mid- wedding reveal.

 5. Beautiful Backs

Beautiful and unique back details are always a great way to have a wow factor in a dress. Whether it be a super low back with interesting straps, a high back with lace, or a bejeweled attachment, having a back detail adds some intrigue and drama to any wedding dress. This year is a great year for beautiful and interesting back designs and details.

6. Intricate Trains

The train of the dress is a really cool feature that many brides want to be an accent on their dress. It draws attention to the bottom of the dress and one of the parts of a wedding dress that guests see the most, especially during the ceremony. Having a long and interesting train, like many of the things on this list isn’t brand new, however, this year’s designs are uniquely intricate and beautiful.
